
Meet the CAPM Certification Requirements
Before you can take the CAPM exam, you’ll have to make sure you’re eligible. You’ll need:
- Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent) and
- 23 hours of project management education completed by the time you sit for the exam.
- The PMI’s Project Management Basics online course ($350 PMI Member) fulfills this educational prerequisite. Also, the University of Louisville offers – PMP / CAPM Exam Facilitated Course Instructor Led Training ($2,195) Enroll here

- Enroll in a formal study course offered by PMI chapters or Authorized Training Partners. You can also review self-study books published by Authorized Training Partners and other reputable training organizations.
- Review A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) – Sixth Edition
- Review tips, resources and FAQs to help you prepare.
- The certification exam has 150 questions, and you have three hours to complete it.
- If you have been granted test accommodations for the exam, please follow these steps for scheduling:
- Call the Pearson VUE Accommodation Specialist Department at +1 800 466 0450
- When calling Pearson VUE’s Contact Center, the representative will ask for:
- Testing program: PMI – Project Management Institute
- Name of examination: CAPM
- Your PMI ID
- You will then be asked to verify your:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email address
- Physical Address
- Phone Number used in your application
- If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment with test accommodations, you will need to call the same number you used when scheduling your appointment
