Accredited Degree vs. Reciprocity

Step 1A: Accredited Degree
Proof of graduation from a program accredited by
Successfully passed the national exam administered by ARRT or NMTCB
Step 1B: Reciprocity
- An active valid, and in good standing, medical imaging license with another state
- Certificate of licensure by a national organization
- Refer to KRS 311B.020 (11)
- Minimum of 5 years industry-related work experience
- Continuing education credits
Step 2: Submitting an Application to KBMIRT
In addition to pathway-specific documents, all applicants must also provide:
- Completed application form with KBMIRT here
- A criminal background check for Kentucky here
- Criminal background checks for all other states of residence
- Government-issued photo ID
- Proof of active registration with ARRT or NMTCB
Currently there are no application fees for transitioning service members.
Step 3: Review Process
KBMIRT will review your application packet and issue your license.
