Medical Imaging & Radiology (ARRT)

In order to receive licensure as a medical imaging professional in the state of Kentucky, a transitioning service member in the medical imaging field must have either graduated from an accredited program and passed the national exam administered through ARRT or NMTCB, or is applying through reciprocity with another state.

Step 1: Determine Your Pathway

Step 1A: Accredited Degree

Proof of graduation from a program accredited by

Successfully passed the national exam administered by ARRT or NMTCB

Step 1B: Reciprocity

An active valid, and in good standing, medical imaging license with another state
Certificate of licensure by a national organization

Minimum of 5 years industry-related work experience
Continuing education credits

Step 2: Submitting an Application to KBMIRT

In addition to pathway-specific documents, all applicants must also provide:

Completed application form with KBMIRT here
A criminal background check for Kentucky here
Criminal background checks for all other states of residence
Government-issued photo ID
Proof of active registration with ARRT or NMTCB

Currently there are no application fees for transitioning service members.

Step 3: Review Process

KBMIRT will review your application packet and issue your license.
