Why does the work that KY VALOR does matter?
Because we get to serve those who have served our country. Our goal is to not only connect service members and their families with great employers, but to help make that transition as smooth and supportive as possible.
What’s the benefit for veterans and their families?
The biggest benefit is that you don’t have to do this alone.
As a military spouse, I understand what military life is like from both the service member and family perspective. Transitioning to the civilian world, or figuring out what you want to do, can feel overwhelming, so having someone who understands your experience (for the most part) and helps guide your next steps makes the process smoother and a lot less intimidating!
What about VALOR’s services do you think veterans value most?
I think veterans really value the overall support. Everyone’s situation is different, and they’re all at different stages in life and in their career so tailoring our support to fit what’s best for each individual and their family. Knowing you have someone in your corner to help with your job search and next steps makes a big difference.
What do you find most rewarding about working with veterans and their families?
Being able to say we helped, even if it’s in a small way, is so rewarding! One of my favorite moments each week is when Nicki, our Workforce Manager, shares who received job offers. Knowing we played a part in that is super meaningful.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about working with service members or helping with job placement in Kentucky?
Our team genuinely cares and is happy to help however we can – no matter where you’re at or what your end goal is.
